1963 Gibson EB2 ES-335 Conversion - Cherry
Here we have quite the oddball! This originally started life as a 1963 Gibson EB-2 bass in Cherry red that was converted at some point in the past to an ES-335.
The mahogany neck is reported to be a factory Gibson neck and has a super chunky neck profile. The inlay finish work leaves a bit to be desired but it's certainly interesting.
The finish on the back and sides are original, while the top has been refinished. You can see where all the EB-2 routes have been plugged in certain lighting and the top finish is less transparent than an original 335s would have been.
Has a new wiring harness, new Gibson Custombucker pickups and replacement bridge, tailpiece and pickguard.
The tuners, switch and tip, pickup rings, truss rod cover and strap buttons all are era-correct Gibson parts.
Despite being a parts bin special, this guitar really plays great, is well balanced and is itching to get played!
