With banjo killing tone and incredible pedigree, the Brazilian Rosewood Martin D-28 is the gold standard of acoustics for a reason!

This example comes from the grandson of the original owner, who purchased it in 1954 and played it across the country over several decades.

The guitar sports some pick scratches and honest dings and impressions throughout with a healthy dose of finish checking. It appears that the neck has been off at one point in the guitars history, as well as a bridge reglue. The previous owner does not recall any of this work being performed.

There are no cracks in the Adirondack top, nor the gorgeous straight-grain Brazilian Rosewood back and sides. Also no cracks or repairs near the headstock or heel.

This particular D-28 would benefit from a professional neck reset, which we've opted to leave for the next caretaker to use their luthier of choice. Action at the 12th fret currently sits at 0.130" on the low E and 0.090" at the high E.

  • Nut width: 1.67"
  • Neck depth at first fret: 0.87"
  • Neck depth at 12th: 1.11"
  • Weight: 4lbs 11.3oz

Comes with vintage Martin case not original to the guitar. Feel free to reach out with further questions or for more photos of this classic D-28!
